Williams, Jolyon Palmer and Marcus Ericsson are not seeing these pilots as options in 2018, despite their interest in joining.

After passing Carlos Sainz to Renault, the eyes of the middle part were turned to which driver Williams would compete with.

Lance Stroll is guaranteed a place in the team, but the second pilot is not yet clear.

vvd learned that Paddy Lowe had only three names on his list; Paul di Resta, Felipe Massave Robert Kubica. The first two candidates are well known, so the list is on the front line.

Williams wants to do a series of tests with 2014 to see if Kubica’s return is possible. The English team will make a decision about Kubica after a probable test but there is still no improvement in this regard and time is running out.

Paul di Resta has entered in between Williams’s 2018 nominations after he replaced Massa in Hungary. Massa is one of those names Williams likes.

Sources say that Williams has not made a hasty decision since he is one of the best places to go. The team is interviewed with Fernando Alonso, but is expected to continue with his Spanish pilot McLaren. Sergio Perez was one of the names Williams was interested in, but after a good reason he did not want to take risks in 2018. He also thought he could go to one of the big teams for the year 2019.

In Singapore, Marcus Ericsson had appeared with Williams, but the British team closed the Swedish pila door.

Joylon Palmer is one of the remaining names but the team does not see him as a candidate.

Mercedes-backed Wehrlein continues to stay among the options but will not be able to join because he is not 25 years old
